The defense is on its 3rd DC in 3 years so there is virtually no level of comfort with the defense since UM keeps having to to teach new schemes with new terminology every year rather than just reviewing and allowing the players to get to the point where they react instead of think.

I agree with that, but there are also fundamentals that they are lacking. Basic tackling or coverage seems to be a huge problem with this team.

It is a horrible mixture of youth, inexperience, lack of talent, coaching, mental mistakes and so forth.

I don't blame Greg Robinson, and I think it would be a huge mistake to replace the DC yet again. Perhaps the LB coach, Hopson I think, needs to go.

Right now I don't want to see anybody go if for no other reason than this defense needs stability just as much as it needs an infusion of talent.

Just thought it would be fun to bump this thread to point out that I'm so disillusioned at this point, I don't even think a loss is worth kicking puppies any more.

I hope we can pull off an upset in the next couple of weeks to show some signs of life (to be fair, it seems from the stats like the offense showed plenty of life but the D still sucks), but I'm not holding my breath. I also can't help but idly wonder if Les Miles sits around thinking, "Hmmm, I might be able to get that job after all in a year or two."
